r/television on Reddit: Hacks is so damn good.

I love Hacks. It is a lovely blend of heartwarming, heartbreaking, and genuinely funny. I think the secret sauce - besides the chemistry between Deborah and Ava - is that both generations are represented, but also mocked.

r/television on Reddit: Hannah Einbinder Says ‘Hacks’ Will End With Season 5: "It’s Nice Not to Overstay Your Welcome"

Hacks has been an entertaining and fresh concept series that's done extremely well. It did however fall into a formula. They'd fight, separate, get back together. I loved S4, seeing Debra's success. And one final season to wrap everything up will be wonderful.

A great buddy comedy that bridges its generation gap with smart show-business satire, Hacks’ worth-waiting-for third season (delayed a year by the Hollywood strikes) finds new purpose in the undying ambition of its leading lady, legendary comic Deborah Vance (Emmy winner Jean Smart, never better).

Hacks is so damn good.

I’m glad we’re at a place in the show where fans can unanimously agree Ava is an amazing character.

Hannah Einbinder Says ‘Hacks’ Will End With Season 5: "It’s Nice Not to Overstay Your Welcome"

I love Hacks but Season 4 kind of felt like they were spinning their wheels in the first half to get to the plot developments in the back half. The last episode certainly felt like it was leading into a final season. Very rare that any sort of prestige show gets to actually end, much less a comedy. Happy they're going out on their own terms with a complete story.

What are some overlooked productivity hacks that aren't talked about enough?

Learn to automate things. Almost any repetitive process can be automated (via excel, power query, power automate, macros ext). Most commercial project management apps have automations and rules in them. Basically if It's repetitive and you have to do it more than once, it's usually worth the time to automate that process. Once implemented it's basically working for you. Over time it will pay off the time you took to set it up and then from there it's just pure time saving.

Anyone watching Hacks on HBO Max?

I am loving it! Jean Smart is sharp as ever, and Hannah Einbinder is an absolute joy.

What are your weirdest life hacks that genuinely work?

In an office setting, conducting business by work email, often processes come to a head at the end of the day and require input from someone else to move forward. At the end of the day, no one checks email anymore, and they certainly don't ACT on them right away. The next day brings new challenges and my email goes unanswered for days. After 2pm, I set those emails to send the next day 10 minutes after the start of working hours. People are primed to check off a task someone is presently waiting for, so they nail it because they are just settling in to their desk, and they think I am on the other end waiting for a response. Secondarily, if I send a work email requiring a response, and get an out of office reminder, I recall the email, and set it to deliver at the beginning of the day they return so it doesn't get lost in the bulk of unanswered email.

Early opinions on Season 4 of “Hacks”

It's the same as every season, frankly I'm getting bored. Ava and Deborah start out at odds and refusing to actually work together. Then something happens that makes them get their shit together and force them to get on the same page and start working together. That's what episode 2 is, the force them to agree to work together again thing. I predict they'll spend the next several shows begrudgingly finding common ground until the finale when one will do something to screw the other over and we can start season 5 with them at odds once again.

When I hear about “life hack,” this is what I expect to see : r/ ...

Years of ignoring this platform for me to eventually realise Reddit is the more chilled, knowledgable, interesting cousin of the other toxic websites. An actual life hack.
